Westfield – Fantastic. Epic. Historical.
There is no literal word to describe what happened in the post -season championship on Tuesday.
Freshfield’s second basement, the second basement, Jaylianie Santiago, left the fans without words or encouraging themselves to wild, while making three runs home to help the most prominent bombers to exploit no. 2 East Longmeadow, 15-5, at the Pioneer Valley Interscholastic Conference Athletic Class at Final Softball Tuesday evening at the Westfield State University.
It was the fifth consecutive championship of Massachusetts of Westfield.
“It is very good to be part of this team,” said Santiago. “It’s a great community and everyone is very positive on the team, so it helps me to be here … I was nervous because I had never played here before, but I was very happy.”
Santiago was smiling after having returned to each of the second, third and sixth entrance. I could have finished the night with Four Homers if East Longmeadow did not walk it intentionally in the fifth.
“I was very restless in the box … [but] My team helps to increase -me, “said Santiago.
Santiago started the Westfield offense at the bottom of the second entrance with a lead Homer on the left field fence on the trees in the left field. His second race at home, also a solo shot, which traveled a little higher and a little more, reached 3-0 in the third. Sydney Lapanne made the second round of the entrance, making a single on the left, stealing the second base and advancing third in a wandering throw in the bag before scoring a Sophie Svansson sacrificing RBI.
Westfield increased leadership in the fourth post. Grace Gauger hit a unique double and climbed a bag in a Bur de Hayley Krupienski. Adyson Rowell and Lapanne gave the Firefighters a 5-0 advantage.
Westfield put the game out of reach in the fifth with six more runs. Krupienski provided the highlight of the entrance with a single single in the central field. The bombers led 11-0.
Westfield launcher Shea Hurley closed the East Longmeadow violation by five entries, removing the first 10 batters (five per strike) and 15 of the first 17 batters in seven attacks.
Mia Houser, the Punter of East Longmeadow, broke Hurley’s candidacy at the top of the sixth post with a first launch in the center. After a game of strength in the second base on a standing ground, the Spartans loaded the bases with a hand and a walk. Reilly McCauley led to the team’s first race with a field on the left.
East Longmeadow continued to accumulate some races.
Amaya Carrion took a walk, forcing -in the second round of East Longmeadow. The choice of a camper was 11-3. Sophia Baughn continued with a single of two. Hurley pulled the next batter to end the half inlet.
Previously in the fifth post, East Longmeadow issued an intentional walk to Santiago. The Spartans probably wanted them to walk again when the first year phenom broke another ball, its third, on the fence of the left field to begin the sixth floor. Alejandra Strange and Hurley continued with consecutive walks. Gianna Capua and Krupienski struck singles on the back, and Rowell shaved another race at a campers’ option to capture the score.
Hurley closed the door to East Longmeadow to the seventh, removing -SE side. He reached the first two batters of the entrance and finished the game with 10 ks.
“It’s amazing,” Hurley said about the Five Torbers. “Not many teams can do
The leading coach of the Firefighters echoed these feelings.
“It’s definitely special,” said Tyson James, Westfield Softball coach, mentioning alumni who saw the title game again. “It’s not easy to win -I don’t care five in a row.”
Although the part of its western season of its post -season is already complete, the tournament season has just climbed with the opening round of the state return.
Santiago, when asked what the bombers have for an Encore, “you will see when it happens.”
