Westfield – Ryanne Dubay knew that being simply good would not be good enough in Western Mass. The end of the B -Class Tournament.
Because its regional hampshire assailants number 1 went against the tigers of the South Hadley number 3, it was perched against Isabella Schaffer in a launch duel during the centuries.
“I had to know -at his level,” Dubay said. “I had to secure -me that each pitch is perfect and ensuring -I am hitting my places. It’s a great pitcher. It’s probably one of the best pitchers we’ve ever faced in our lives. I knew I had to intensify my game.”
Passing increasing, Dubay did.
Not only was it simply good enough on Tuesday, but it was dominant, as it got 12 in a 1-0 victory in the Sullivan field on the Westfield State University campus.
At the seven work tickets, Dubay completely stifled the South Hadley line, as three gentle single people were all that the tigers could scrape from it.
“Today was dynamite,” he said Hampshire coach, Brian Mcgann. “The last two days, we worked to recover their places. Grabbing these longer breaks among the games that throws it a bit. It’s sharper as we play more. But he worked the queue for the last two days trying to return to his place. Today he has done so.”
Dubay helped his own cause leading to the solitary game of the game on the top of the first entry with a simple RBI.
The Raiders lost the opportunity to add some insurance when they could not drive in a race with the bases loaded later to the third.
It was then clear that much more was going to do more against Schaeffer, which only allowed the circle twice and only seemed to improve as the game continued.
But Dubay also did, while setting up seven of the last 13 batters that faced the strikes.
“The good launch closes a good blow and today it was demonstrated on both sides,” Mcgann. “At this time of the season, a race is enough. Whenever you succeed, the W is all that counts. It’s not how you do it, as long as you do.”
Raiders have found all kinds of ways to win over the years, as the program has now called for 12 Western Mass titles since 2009.
This more recent, however, was not necessarily expected, and it was not the final record of the 20-1 team.
It was not expected, but certainly deserved.
“We’ve worked hard for that,” said Dubay. “I’m impacted. I’m really happy to be here. I’m really happy to win again. This is at home playing here. Really, I love the girls I have just played. I think we really deserve this.”
