Enya, the inmate queen of dream melodies and vocal magic, has sold 75 million breathtaking albums without ever really entering the light. The Irish singer, who resides in a castle covered with fortified doors and surveillance, has an asteroid and a kind of fish named in his honor, but is still an enigma for the world.

Despite his immense success, Enea has never been for visits, marriage or the typical traps of a pop icon. Its lowest moment can be his confession to the Sun in 2016: “I am a great fan of strictly. I do not know if I could do the program, although I would like to learn the Argentine tango.”

Beyond this rare vision of his personal tastes, Enya maintains his aura of mystery, who lives with his cats in his Victorian castle near Dublinnot far from Bono’s pad, reports The Irish mirror.

Born Eithne Ní Bhraonáin a Gwerale, a county of Donegal, was raised in the middle of a large family with music, but yearned for loneliness. After a brief stage with clannad, his family’s band ventured to collaborate with producer Nicky Ryan and his wife Rome, focusing on his music instead of romance.

This trio happened years near the imprisonment, creating complicated sound landscapes that often presented hundreds of vocal layers, with Enya singing in languages ranging from English and Gaelic to French, Latin, Sindarina and Quenya de Tolkien, and even his invented language, Loxià.

It was the 1988 watermark launch that changed everything. “Orinoco Flow” was whimsical, strange and, unlike anything else than the first 40, and yet the album sold 11 million copies. As a result, in the early 2000’s, she was already one of the most successful female solo artists in the world.

CNN then used its track “only time” as background music in the tragedy of 11/11 in New York. Suddenly, Enya’s work became synonymous with collective pain, and the track was reissued as a single of charity and found a second life, which gave him a devout north -American fanbase. Although, despite having fans in most parts of the world, Enea, to date, has never started on a solo tour.

The singer bought his 19th -century castle, Manderley in 1997 for £ 2.5 million and, according to sources, renewed it, installed a strong security and faded inside. One place said in the Sun, “You would not even know that there was no one for most of the time.”

Enya has never been a long-term romance either, explaining: “After a bad day in the studio, I am dark and difficult to be there. I want and need to be on my own. What kind of man would be able to adapt?” Instead, he says, “my affairs are with melody and beautiful words and sounds. People think it sounds sad,” he said, “But you believe -Me, I’m happy. I’m my music.”

This has not prevented others from being dangerous. In 1996, an Italian harasser followed it for more than a year, even appearing in his parents’ pub in Donegal, who carried his image on his neck. When he was asked to leave, he stabbed. As if this instance was not traumatic enough, in 2005, a man entered his castle and tied a maid as he sought it: Enya had been locked in a panic room. Since then, it has avoided fan files and most public appearances.

Inside his castle, he lives with cats, which, at one point, had 12. It rarely entertains the guests and spends most of the time alone, except Ryan’s couple, who still works with her musically. Her own uncle admitted not to see -saying, “she lives like a queen. She is a prison.”

However, this lifestyle has never affected its success. Enya won four Grammys, received a candidacy for Oscar for his contribution to the Lord of the Rings, and has been sampled by artists who include the Fegees (“ready or not”) and more recently, Metro Boomin and The Weeknd for “Creepin”, a great success of 2022 built around his 1987 humid track “Boadicea”.

And Enya did not approve the sample, he helped choose the title of the song, rejecting the options of “Idwk” options, “Undecided”, “Wanna Let you know” and more, in favor of what they finished, which was “the best name”, according to the rapper Metro Boomin.

If all this sounds a bit unreal, it is also a wonder for music industry professionals. They have admitted to know nothing about their personal life and adjust the launch events with her to meet their needs, but would have large groups than individual interviews, for example.

However, it continues fascinating: since 2019, its pages of social networks have come to life with updates, remastered videos, vinyl reissues and digital celebrations. Its official YouTube channel suffered a quiet 4K update and its sound mystical music continues to throw in new generations.

Enya’s legacy is one of the types. He is the best -selling Irish soloist of all time, a minor planet – 6433 ENYA – was named in his honor, a kind of fish on the Orinoco River was baptized by Leporinus Eneae, and has two honorary doctorates. Even if you do not compromise your privacy or peace.

“I don’t like anyone’s opinion,” he once said. “It is not a crime hanging not to want to go to the nightclubs. What happened to the choice?”
