Daly, in particular, reflected on how children need to feel through the lens of reflection in his own childhood, when his biological father, Jim “Jd” Daly, died when he was five years old.
“I can’t help but think of my own life in this situation,” he said. “Think so much about these young children, your heart goes to them.”
“My father was 46 years old. He was five years old when my father died. My father was young, a diagnosis of unexpected cancer, he passed and thought now 45 years later, my faith in God,” he continued.
“I mean, God has blessed me in my life, so here I am, the young boy, and I say that, finally, God gave me two incredible parents, incredible figures of my life and my life has been so satisfying and I am so blessed for it,” he added. “So I pray for their family and children who also have this fortune.”
Daly was not the only one who reflected on losing his young father, as Savannah Guthrie also had a similar story.
His father, Charles Guthire, died from a heart attack when he was 16 years old.
“You can survive the loss of your father as young people, like us,” he said.
Jones took time to reflect on the kind words of his cohost after the news.
Publishing the segment on her Instagram account, she shared that she was grateful for her support and her family.
“Thank you, for all your love and support,” he titled the post.
