Search efforts will resume Wednesday A man devastated the river connected to Holyoke After he went to a popular fishing site with his girlfriend on Monday night, although the threat of a Nor’Easter may force a temporary pause in search.
Members of the Holyoke Fire Brigade were in the water at 7 am, after the crew and the crews of about 15 attendance departments could not find the missing man on Tuesday, according to Holyoke Fire Captain David Rex.
Firefighters and police officers are planning to look for waters and shores between the Holyoke dam and the Chicopee and West Springfield line on Wednesday.
However, search efforts are expected to conclude at 1pm due to imminent time. A Nor’Easter is on a good way to hit the state On Wednesday night, and the growing waters and high winds would be a significant threat to lifeguards in the water, said Rex.
The man disappeared in the river after he and his girlfriend were fishing near the Holyoke dam around 8 pm on Monday night, according to Holyoke Fire Captain David Rex.
Officials did not provide names or information about the two people.
With several fishermen near the moment, the man and the woman decided to send to the water to a small island in a kayak or canoe, said Rex.
The couple’s boat was captured on the return of the island and a fisherman jumped into the water to help him, said Rex. The fisherman was able to rescue the woman, but his boyfriend was devastated in the water.
He was last seen around the river bend as the spectators called in 911, said Rex.
A rescue team arrived immediately on Monday night and started looking for the waters with four vessels and thermal drones, but they were not successful. The ships were re -pulled to the river to Agawam on Tuesday, Rex said, and officials had at least four drones and police in the state of Massachusetts outdoors in the sky.
Rex said that the area where the couple was on the river is a very well -known place for fishing, but it can be “a difficult place to be in the water” and that the life jackets are “essential”.
