New York – The Celtics did not look like a team that went down without a fight in New York after the inspirational victory of match 5 on Wednesday night. This changed in a hurry on Friday when the missing team Jayson Tatum entered the hostile territory to the Madison Square Garden. The Knicks won their greatest victory in the history of the Playoff of the Franchise in Party 6, reaching a route of 118-81 that had the time of garbage for almost the second half.
Boston’s offense (outside Jaylen Brown) and the defensive rebound was a virtual show without defeat in what was an impressive result for a team playing with his season on the line. The defense champions came out with a whim as they headed for a low season of uncertainty.
Boston went on his way to an impressive loss about Knicks even before Tatum went down to the game 4 after blowing two points from 20 points home, followed by a comeback of 14 points from the Knicks in the game 4. Joe Mazzulla shone a lot for these problems after the defeat of the series.
“For me, this is not our boys,” said Mazzulla. “They did everything they could. You have to propose the hats at the Knicks. They played a great series. They have been excellent throughout the year. Thibs is a great coach. So you have to give it the hat.”
Accrediting the Knicks is a thing and is certainly an elegant gesture of mazzulla. However, Mazzulla also did not recognize the severity of Boston’s collapses in the series. He acknowledged that fatigue was a factor in game 6 explosion, but the fact that Boston beat New York for most of this series still loss in six games.
“I mean, I thought only the Knicks made a great boost in these games to take advantage of it and keep them and be able to take them back to the Games,” said Mazzulla about the main protagonists. “All the things you talk about, the end of the barracks, the beginning of the barracks, the plays at the moment, the offensive rebounds, did all these plays. These are things that, regardless of whether you work one day, two days, two years, three years, are things that you must return every day. These are the habits that affect the games.”
With important changes from outside the season to the horizon due to a financial crisis in a place, it is clear that the Celtics will be very different next year under Mazzulla. Instead of regretting the missed opportunity in this post -empowerment, the Celtics coach chose to praise this group despite a bewildering conclusion.
“We set a goal. We did not achieve this goal, but that should not, for me, the mentality and effort made by the players,” said Mazzulla. “So we have responsibility and property. We did not, but the approach, the process for this, cannot ask the boys more. So I thought they gave everything they had throughout the season.
“Obviously we did not succeed, but it cannot be taken out of what they did. This is the price you pay to try to go after something, and so it goes. But they really only thank the boys for who they are as people and what they have done as players and what they have done as a team.”
