Pharmacy giant shutters hundreds of locations across US



The pharmacy giant, WalGarens will close 1,200 stores throughout the United States in the coming weeks and months, according to Nexstar.

The news comes after the store chain announced In October, around 500 locations would close to optimize the Walgreen footprint and close the shops with a lower performance.

However, from Wednesday, WalGarens marked some of its more than 8,000 stores for imminent online closure.

“This location will close permanently on May 19. We regret the inconvenience this may cause,” Salem Walurens Read, offering customers information about the transfer of their recipes to another WalGarens.

While the dates vary between the affected shops, there are two general groups: one, with closures that occur next week and the other, with closures scheduled for the end of June, according to Nexstar.

In Massachusetts, 10 locations are expected to be closed soon according to the WalGarens website. These stores are in:

Another 44 locations are expected to be all over the country in the following states according to Nexstar:

  • Hayward, Jackson Street, on May 22 (this location is already temporarily closed).
  • Los Gatos, Blossom Hill Road, on May 22
  • Salinas, N. Sanborn Road, June 25 (this location is already closed temporarily).
