A 30-year-old homeless man faces a fire in a fire at a Springfield house and tried to fire another, announced police on Wednesday.
Nicholas Denson has been accused of a fire of a home, breaking and entering a building during the day to commit a crime, attempted fires of a home, undoing goods and assault and batteries to a police officer, Springfield police said in a statement.
On April 24, at around 4:35 AM, Police and Springfield Firefighters responded to Belmont Avenue 200 Block for a report that a house was lit, according to police. The posterior porch of the house was sensitive, but the Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames.
According to police, police and the Springfield police bomb began investigating, and a gasoline near the porch was soon located. A k9 dog burned up also detected accelerating or flammable liquids on the porch.
At around 3.30 pm, that day, the bomb and bomb staff investigated a fire attempt at an apartment on Buckingham Street, according to police. When they entered the house, they immediately smelled the gas.
The officers soon saw Denson fleeing the back door of the apartment and pursued him, according to police. They found Denson on State Street and arrested him at 16.05, but made an officer before being taken in remand.
