Longmeadow – Although Longmeadow’s number 6 was two points behind the sweeping border on Monday night, the lancers understood that anything was possible.
Despite an end of time called by the opposition, Anthony Jackson responded with one of his two donkeys to lift Longmeadow faithful at his feet.
And then Kean Jarvinen recorded the winning block of the game To seal the 3-0 of Lancers (25-10, 25-23, 25-20) wins against the Red Hawks inside the Robert M. de Agostino gym.
Longmeadow improved up to 8-4 behind his seventh victory of the season to stay ahead of Central Springfield (4-1) with a 5-0 unbeaten record in the East classification.
“I think it is imperative to take every game at the same time,” said Patrick Curry, Lancers coach. “But I think being strong in our league is also impressive.
“Advancement will not be easy because we are scheduled to face Putnam Tech, Frontier and Springfield Central again.
“It would be great to remain unbeaten in our league. But whenever we do our work and where we are supposed, maybe we will be crowned the League champions.”
Nate Rivera advanced Frontier with 12 of his team’s 26 killings, as the Red Hawks (4-7) said goodbye to their previous two-game winning streak.
Tegan Dexter ended with nine slaughter and 11 excavations, while Tavo Vincent-Warner recorded 23 assists and four excavations.
Despite the positive result, the lancers turned one another to the track afterwards to do an iron exercise.
“Our goal was to allow Frontier Marquis 18 points in the third set,” said Jarvinen. “But since they scored 20, it is our job to do so many seconds of planks together.”
But instead of seeing the exercise as a punishment, players, coaches and even the surrounding parents believe that these moments will only strengthen them mentally and physically as the season progresses.
“We lost many players last year,” said Jarvinen. “So the reconstruction process has felt like a brotherhood that last year. And you know that everyone turned their backs, even if you are not playing.
“You know you are doing your teammates and what it is.”
Jarvinen started the first set with one of his two donkeys to advance Longmeadow. Although the Red Hawks scored four late points to keep the things interesting, the lancers came out victorious behind a 25-10 final score.
Nhan Vuong advanced to Longmeadow with 28 assists and six killings, while Christopher Bousquet was then with eight excavations and four assists.
The second set told a different story, but how, like William Petrin (Two Kills, One Dig and One Assist) asked for his border teammates “to win one point at a time. “”

Despite the inspiration, both teams continued to market impulse. At the end of the third, however, the Red Hawks took advantage of multiple opposing mistakes to make it a two possession game.
But it wasn’t enough, as the lancers kept – Broom frontier for the third time in a row.
