Watch: Carrie Underwood recreates a performance from her ‘American Idol’ days

Judge Carrie Underwood, “American Idol”, has surprised viewers with a call return to the program in 2005.

At the beginning of Sunday’s episode, Underwood sang “Alone” (covered by Heart in 1987), which he had previously chosen for a “idol” performance as a contestant at the fourth season of the program. His new interpretation of “Alone” launched a round of the Rock & Roll Hall of the competition, which saw the 14 best contestants this season performing music from the past Hall of Fame Induct.

A few days before the episode, the YouTube channel “American Idol” hung a new entry to “From Idol to Icon”, a series of videos that explores Underwood’s time on the program 20 years ago.

“Throughout this competition, I have been the singer of the country and I wanted to risk -and leave my shell a little,” Underwood said in an old clip in 2005, explaining his choice of songs.

“This week, I was” OK, I’m just going to give precaution to the wind, “he recalled.

Underwood also commented on his “miles” hairstyle, which he said was a reflection of the 1987 cover launch.

“He is iconic now, he would not change anything,” he said, “but at that time I was nervous. I had not fully embraced the fact that I had a little character and enter a piece of paper. Now I will do it in the drop of a hat.”

But perhaps the highlight of the 2005 performance was an overwhelmingly positive and accurate opinion of Judge Simon Cowell.

“I will make a prediction, you will not only win this program, but you will sell more records than any other previous winner” Idol “, he said.

Underwood claimed the title of “American Idol” that season and has since sold more than 85 million records worldwide, making it the best -selling winner “idol” so far.

“I remember thinking that people did not like after that and be very nervous,” he said, saying -his concern for Cowell’s reaction to make it a go ahead.

“Fulfillment overcome fear, because this was incredible,” he added. “I know I slept well that night.”
