Chicopee: Six weeks have passed since Daniel Callahan has disappeared on the Connecticut River. A search for him continues.
The Man of Connecticut was last seen on Saturday, March 9, Shortly after midnightAfter it was reported that a man had entered the river at the end of Walter Street in Chicopee.
The next day Callahan’s car was pulled from the water.
The application of the Local Law, including the Chicopee Police Department, the Hampden County Sheriff Department and the Massachusetts State Police, launched an extensive search for Callahan that day, according to the Officer Travis Overiorne, a public information officer from the Chicopee Police Department.
Captain Katie Collins-Kalbaugh, a public information officer from Chicopee Fire Brigade, said that the first ones who responded were deployed by the Westcomm Regional Office Center On March 9, using a vessel customized by the Fire Corps, the crews searched for Callahan on the river. The Police Department used a drone to search.
Overiorner said that Callahan Police Department’s search was active during the first week, as is normal in cases like this.

Throughout the Windsor Locks Trail Channel of Connecticut, not far from where Callahan is to East Windsor, you can see yellow neon signs on the grass. They ask for sailors or the river attendees to find Callahan.
The signs include an image of Callahan, a 26 -year -old smiling man with facial hair wearing a New York Baseball Cap.
The signs describe what was last seen with Callahan: dark gray plate flannel, a black zip jacket, dark jeans and a black dot hat.
“Please help you at home,” says the sign. People are asked to contact the Chicopee Police Department with information.
Overnever said that the signs had to be published by the family, as the department usually does not publish signs when people disappear. It was not sure how far the south of the river went.
Callahan’s father did not respond to a comment request.
Callahan’s information also has it has been published to a database of national missing persons.
Keith Parent, a police officer from the Police Department of Enfield, said that the department was asked to help with Callahan’s search for the Hampden County Xerif office.
“We have used our drone service to help the law application to find the person who disappeared,” he said. Parent said that his department uses drones frequently when he is looking for a person who has disappeared, especially in wooded areas, due to the infrared and thermal cameras of the drones.
Rob Rizzuto, director of communications from the Hampden County Sheriff office, said that the office’s search effort is in progress. He said that Xerif Nick Cocchi continues to contact Callahan’s family.
The Xerife office has been traveling the river, said Cocchi in a statement by email.
“We are committed to using all our resources as we continue to look for Daniel and our thoughts continue with his family as we work together to close them,” said Cocchi.
