An “American Idol” contestant has gone from receiving a “no” from Judge Luke Bryan during the auditions, to Bryan saying he is in the “best 10” contestants.
“Idol”, hopeful of Zaylie Windsor, filmed the success of Billie Eillish “Better Than Ever” during the Sunday night of the singing competition, gaining high notes by Judges Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood and Bryan himself.
The episode showed the contestants who sailed for the challenges of Hollywood Week at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles. After surviving the “Idol Arena” round in the episode last Monday, which decreased the number of contestants from 144 to 62, the remaining singers had to compete in the “Showstoppers” part, which tests their ability to highlight their peers.
Windsor did so on stage with an acoustic guitar and power vowels.
“I think I’m really pushing for it,” he said before the performance, referring to some of the most difficult notes to move forward. “Especially with such a great song, you can really not be retained.”
The judges took note of Windsor’s confidence, with Underwood saying “Welcome to Zaylie’s program!”
“It’s serious,” Bryan added. “It has definitely put in the top 10”.
It is the change of heart for Bryan, who voted not to send Windsor to Hollywood when he made a hearing.
“As an interpreter, I could show more excitement, I could get more into my song,” Windsor said about his choice.
