Dear Eric: I am a 78 -year -old widow, who has been a year ago; First time in my life. Is it fair to adopt a cat if I most likely have only one and a half to two and a half more to live? I also travel. I have no family, so the one who would make the cat unknown. Maybe returning to the adoption group? Is it right to the cat? I feel like I’m selfish or is a “home” time for a better cat than none? Please warn.

Dear cat lover: Last year without a cat must have been so difficult for you. It is an approximate transition after being with the cats all life. There are solutions that can take into account what may seem your future as well as what is best for the cat. Considering fostering a cat or cats. This not only provides companionship for you and the cat, but can help a local shelter release space so that another cat that needs a house can enter. Your local shelter, human society or shelter can sign up for the right program and get you set up with an application.
You can also contact friends and family to see if they or someone they know need a temporary house for a pet. Some of the worries you wrote can be achieved by ensuring that you have a support system on your site and for the cat.
Volunteering in an animal shelter is another great way to keep pets in your life. Both options will also contact other humans who can help you make a plan for the welfare of the cat. There are so many pets that need love houses. I think it is more than just to welcome -one.
