Mass. eyes cuts to only residential mental health program for children

Belchertown – The only intensive residential program designed to help children from 6 to 12 years old with acute mental illnesses has been reduced from the proposed budget of Gov. Maura Healey. No replacement options have been offered.

At the same time, similar treatment units are being cut off for older adolescents, reducing access to treatment for older young people.

Mental Health Department Commissioner, Brooke Doyle, reported the affected programs of meetings at the end of last month, according to the main programs.
