It Boston Police Department He announced the death of an active service officer who had attended the department for almost 20 years.
Detective Mark G. Walsh died on Thursday, February 20, according to a statement of Boston police. His cause of death was not revealed.
“Detective Walsh was well regarded by those who worked, his supervisors and everyone who knew him, both inside the department and for those who served,” he read the statement.
Walsh had been appointed to the department on October 31, 2005.
Before becoming detective on August 21, 2021, Walsh was an official in Dorchester and South End, and was part of the strike for youth violence.
During his time with the department, Walh worked with a community group to share information about glues In order to better understand and support young people in foster care, the department said.
Other notable WalSH hits with the department included helping an external agency to squeeze a murder suspect and his arrest of a person suspected of breaking and entering the neighborhoods of Boston.
He was known for taking weapons and felons from Boston streets and received several awards from the community and for which he served “for his” dedicated service “as an officer and detective, the department’s statement.
