CHESTNUT HILL: Boston College’s first men’s hockey team won its seventh race contest, defeating number 8 Umass Lowell for a score of 4-0 on Friday evening in Kelley Rink.
Ryan Leonard scored a hat-trick for the Eagles, while Gabe Perrerault also found the back of the network. Jan Korec made 22 savings among the pipes for the disposition.
BC improves until 19-4-1 in general and 12-3-1 in the league game, while Umass Lowell drops to 13-8-3 in general and 6-6-2 in Hockey East.
The Eagles jumped to a 1-0 lead when Leonard finished a shot outside the fold. James Hagens found a fortescue skating through the neutral zone, which then took the puck to the offensive area before passing -at the back so that Leonard touched home just minutes from the contest.
The Boston College doubled the lead later in the period when the puck took a strong bounce from the Perreault skate and passed in front of the UML goalkeeper, Beni Halasz, on the net. J. Hagens found the space to do the work and made the pass that bounced off the skate of Perrereault.
Both teams killed at least one penalty in the second period, but they could not find the back of the network either. The BC defense remained high as Umass Lowell did not register a shot in the goal for 20 minutes.
Leonard scored his second goal of the night just 13 seconds from the third period to push Boston College to three. Andre Gasseau picked up the loose blow with a deviated shot Aidan Hreschuk. Gasseau found Leonard, who quickly fired the shit in the lower right corner of the network.
Leonard completed the Hat Trick moments after skating through Umass Lowell’s defense before removing a shot in Halasz. Oskar Jellvik caused the exit to pass through the neutral area and deeply to the offensive zone. Leonard corrected the shit behind the net and took it along the boards to the other side before skating -for several defenders to find the opening to shoot the shit.
