Mass. weather: These were the coldest temperatures on Wednesday morning



For about an hour Wednesday morning, temperatures were frigid in parts of Massachusetts.

Between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m., when morning low temperatures typically hit, several Massachusetts communities saw temperatures drop into the single digits or several degrees below zero, the National Weather Service said in a publish to X

The coldest low temperatures reached on Wednesday were in Great Barignton, between minus 20 and minus 15 degrees, according to the post. Springfield saw temperatures 10 degrees warmer, specifically, between minus 10 and minus 5 degrees.

Worcester, Fithcburg and Lawrence saw low temperatures between minus 5 degrees and 0 degrees, forecasters said. Farther east, Boston, Provincetown, Hyannis, New Bedford and Nantucket saw lows of 5 to 10 degrees.

Plymouth reached morning lows between 0 and 5 degrees.

Highs on Wednesday were mostly below 20 degrees, except for temperatures between 21 and 25 degrees around the Cape and Islands, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing for the rest of the week through the afternoon of Sunday, Jan. 26, Weather Service forecaster Rob Megnia he previously told MassLive.
