It seems that the New England Patriots they are not completely cleaning house under Mike Vrabel.
MassLive’s Mark Daniels reports that the Patriots plan to retain the special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer.
New England is in the midst of a major coaching turnover since the team parted ways with Jerod Mayo after one season. Offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt and defensive coordinator Demarcus Covington are out, as are at least six other assistant coaches.
But Springer? It stays there. That’s good for the Patriots. Although the offense and defense faltered during Mayo’s ill-fated rookie season as head coach, the special teams unit was strong under Springer and assistant Tom Quinn.
The Patriots had the No. 2 special teams unit in the NFL in 2024, according to Pro Football Focus. Additionally, special teams ace Brenden Schooler earned first-team All-Pro honors in addition to a Pro Bowl nomination.
Before coming to New England, Springer was a special teams assistant with the Los Angeles Rams for two seasons.
