Capital One outage: Users report widespread deposit issues

“Technical interruption” in Capital One on Thursday left some bank customers unable to access their direct deposits.

A Capitol One representative wrote to X that the outage affected “various functions.” The representative did not say when the bank’s online services would be fully restored.

“We are currently experiencing a technology outage that is affecting various functions. We apologize for the inconvenience, and while we do not have an ETA for shipping, we appreciate your patience as we work to restore functionality,” a Capital One representative said in response to a frustrated customer.

Customers trying to get Capital One’s attention on X mostly had the same concerns — they were counting on money from their direct deposits, and when those deposits weren’t reversed, they were left wondering if they would be able to cover their accounts.

“The deposit was supposed to arrive yesterday like every other Wednesday… Not good for all the bills going out and no money there should be,” one user wrote for Capital One.

Reports on DownDetector — which monitors the status of live services — found it Reports of outages for Capital One peaked around 9 a.m. but continued into late morning.

“We are actively working with the provider to resolve the issue and restore service, and apologize for the inconvenience,” Capital One posted on X.

Capital One’s outburst comes just a day after Citibank admitted it own technical problems prevented customers from accessing their accounts from their mobile devices. Citibank also revealed this false fraud alerts placed on the clients’ cards and that the bank is working to eliminate the problem.
