More than 2,000 cases of chicken broth sold per Walmart they have been recalled due to potential packaging issues.
According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), 2,023 cases of Great Value Chicken Broth, sold in 48-ounce containers at Walmart, have been recalled. Each case involves six units of product, meaning 12,138 cartons of broth were recalled.
The revocation — first initiated Dec. 11, 2024 — is due to the potential “for packaging defects that could compromise product sterility, resulting in spoilage.”

According to the FDA announcement, the recalled product was sold in stores in Alabama and Arkansas. A Walmart representative told The Independent on Monday (Jan. 13) that more than 242 stores in the U.S. were selling the chicken soup.
In addition to Alabama and Arkansas, the product was sold at Walmart stores in seven other states: Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. Walmart urges customers to discard this product and request a refund.
“The health and safety of our customers always comes first. As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we took action to remove all affected products from selected, affected stores,” the retailer said in a statement. “We are continuing to work with the supplier to investigate.”
The recall comes just days after Blue Ridge Beef recalled 1,350 pounds of its 2lb log Kitten Mix.due to salmonella contamination in it.
Salmonella in cat food was discovered after a customer reported the animal’s illness in a complaint. On December 12, 2024, a sample of the product was collected by the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources and tested by the Massachusetts State Public Health Laboratory, which tested positive for Salmonella.
Another product sold at Walmart stores in 20 states was recalled last month: Braga Fresh Ready-to-Eat 12oz Marketside Broccoli Florets. Broccoli has been recalled due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination, which can cause invasive disease and intestinal disease.
Possible listeria contamination of Braga Fresh broccoli “was discovered during random sampling by Texas Health & Human Services from a location in Texas where one of the multiple samples tested positive,” according to the FDA.
