A Canadian pizza chain is bringing its Detroit-style pizza to Massachusetts for the first time.
Descendant Detroit Style Pizza is expected to open inside Prudential Center in Boston in late January, owner Sotirios “Ike” Tzars told MassLive.
The restaurant’s menu will feature signature Descendants pies, including the “Cat Daddy” (sausage, peppers, red onion, basil aioli and fresh herbs) and the “Electric Avenue” (chicken, pineapple, green onion, chives , curry lime aioli). , peppers and hot sauce).
“Everything is made in-house and we are excited to offer high-quality Detroit-style pizzas with a unique twist,” Tzars said in an email.
The scion’s name comes from Sicilian pizza, Tzars said to video at the restaurant web site. The owner, who took over the business in 2022, said he learned to make pizza working at his parents’ pizzeria in Boston.
Descendent’s pizza is characterized by its thick and chewy Sicilian crust that is topped with heaps of cheese and toppings and then topped with sauce. Square pies are often said to be upside down because the sauce is on top.
