Springfield’s Pop Watson, Virginia Tech fall to Minnesota in Duke’s Mayo Bowl



CHARLOTTE — With more than a half-dozen starters missing from Virginia Tech’s offense Friday night against Minnesota in Duke’s Mayo Bowl, the Hokies needed younger players to step up.

Redshirt freshman and former Springfield Central star quarterback Pop Watson showed his potential to the team win in Virginia in November and was ready to be one of those players against the Golden Gophers.
