Surfer missing off South Australia’s west coast believed to be victim of shark attack | South Australia


Emergency crews are searching for the body of a man, the victim of a fatal attack on a shark South Australia.

A 28-year-old man from Port Lincoln was attacked shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday while surfing at Granite Beach, south of Streaky Bay on the Peninsula, according to witnesses.

Police responded immediately and began a search, according to the State Emergency Service and local volunteers, but the man’s body has yet to be found.

The search for air, land, and water resumes early Friday morning. The beach remains closed to the public, and the community is urged to avoid the area.

It is a popular surf spot about 700km west of Adelaide.

In 2023 the teacher; Simon Baccanello, 46, died in a suspected high school shooting while surfing at Walkers Beach Rock and 50 years ago Tod Gendle was killed while the surface on the shore of the Granites. Neither body was recovered.

In the same year, Khai Cowley was 10 years old fined by the great suspect while the distant surface of Ethel- beach on Yorke Peninsula.
