NEW YORK – A mass shooting in Jamaica, Queens, left 10 teenagers injured when police say multiple suspects opened fire outside a bar.
Police are looking for the four male suspects who opened fire on a crowd of about 15 people outside the event space. It happened shortly after 11.15pm on New Year’s Day outside the Amazura Concert Hall at 144th Place.
There were so many victims, the street was lined with ambulances waiting to take them all to local hospitals.
According to police, about 90 people were inside in a private event space upstairs. The place was at capacity, and a line of about 15 people was waiting outside.
Police say that’s when four men walking along 91st Avenue approached the crowd and fired about 30 rounds. They then ran to the 143rd place, where they got into a light-colored sedan with out-of-state plates.
“Officers responded to multiple 911 calls and found a total of 10 victims, six women and four men, who were transported to area hospitals. All victims are expected to recover with non-life threatening injuries life,” said NYPD Sgt. of the Patrol Philip Rivera told reporters overnight.
The victims are between 16 and 19 years old.
Police say the public have been instrumental in helping them solve high-profile crimes in recent weeks and hope the public will help them catch the suspects in this case.
