Man arrested after firing air gun at tree workers on Cape Cod, police say

A 34-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after police say he fired an air gun at several tree workers in Marstons Mills.

On the morning of New Year’s Eve, Barnstable police officers went to an area of Tanbark Road for a report of a bullet hole in the window of a home. About 30 minutes after the scene was cleared, the department received a 911 call reporting a man shooting what appeared to be a rifle at tree workers on Tanbark Road, police wrote in a statement released on Facebook.

Arriving officers “made contact” with Kyle Stacey, 34, of Marstons Mills, who returned to his home. Police say they identified Stacey as the man who had been shooting at the tree workers.

Stacey initially refused to leave her home, but was eventually arrested. After arresting Stacey, police searched his home and found .30 caliber projectiles, firearms cleaning tools and several air pistols, according to the release.

One of the air guns found in the home has the ability to fire .25- and .30-caliber lead projectiles with compressed air, police said.

Stacey will be arraigned Thursday morning on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, vandalism and resisting arrest. He has been held on $15,000 cash bail since his arrest.
