Manchester United looking for PSG star Nuna Mendes?
Manchester United could make a move for Paris Saint-Germain defender Nuna Mendes in the winter transfer window.
Amorim has so far been unable to inspire an upturn in form from the Red Devils, but one position could be immediately improved to bolster the Portuguese’s system. Left-back appears to be United’s priority, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia often injured and Diogo Dalot often used at right-back.
Speculation has already begun with one report claiming the club have ‘made an offer’ for the PSG left-back following ongoing contract negotiations between the Ligue 1 club and Mendes, with transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano detailing that a deal is underway .
“PSG had a verbal agreement to extend Mendes’ contract and they insist on keeping him at the Ligue 1 club, so it won’t be an easy job for them,” said Fabrizio Romano in his Give Me Sport column. “Mendes is one of the most exciting young defenders in world football, and could be ideal for Amorim’s system.
“Mendes is a more than capable defender but also offers a threat in the final third, which makes him perfect for the full-back role under Amorim. Securing his signature will certainly not be easy, but with his contract expiring in 2026, PSG could be forced to sell if they are unable to tie him down to a new contract.”
