There have been no jackpot winners since September, when a single ticket sold in Texas won the $810 million prize. The Mega Millions jackpot has been hit just three times in 2024, the fewest won in a single year since the game began, according to Mega Millions.
In the Friday, December 13th Mega Millions drawing, someone entered Massachusetts matched the first five numbers drawn to win $1 million. The winning ticket was sold at Ghafour Fuel in Norwood.
Tickets to play cost $2 each and players pick five numbers between 1 and 70 and one between 1 and 25. The overall odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in over 302 million.
