Chanting South Korean MPs swarm parliament in protest of impeachment | News

South KoreaMPs chanted and pushed each other as the speaker of parliament addressed the chamber on Friday, December 27 ahead of the impeachment vote against acting president Han Duck Soo.

Politicians voted to impeach Han, who has been acting president ever since Yoon Suk Yeol was impeached on December 14 because of his short-term levy of state of emergency December 3rd.

In a video from inside the parliament, MPs from the ruling People’s Power Party (PPP) can be seen making their way to the front of the National Assembly session and chanting in protest against the impeachment vote.

The motion, led by opposition parties, passed with 192 out of 300 votes amid scenes of dissent.

PPP MPs argued that the vote was invalid and that parliament had committed “tyranny”.
