PDC World Darts Championship is in full swing as we return from the Christmas break, with plenty of shocks and show-stopping moments already enthralling fans at Alexandra Palace.
Luke Littler and Luke Humphries are favorites to win the title in January, with a potential date on the cards in the semi-finals after the 17-year-old secured a 3-1 win over Ryan Meikle in one of the most impressive performances of the tournament so far.
meanwhile, two-time champion Gary Anderson and the 2023 winner Michael Smith was among the upset as both fell in the first rounds, with Mike De Decker and Rob Cross among several other seeds already out of the competition.
This time last year, much was made of the then 16-year-old Littler potentially taking home £500,000 for winning the competition, although in the end he had to ‘settle’ for the £200,000 runners-up prize.
But how much money is at stake at Alexandra Palace, and what can players expect to take home if they reach the final stages of the tournament?
What is the prize money at the World Darts Championship?
As the most prestigious tournament in the sport, the World Darts Championship also has the largest prize pool, with a total pot of around £2.5 million.
Much of that is saved for the winner, who pockets £500,000 and also takes home the Sid Wadell Trophy, named after the famous darts commentator Sid Waddell.
The losing finalist takes home £200,000, while players who lose in the semi-finals are awarded £100,000 and those who only make it to the quarter-finals receive £50,000 each.
Even in the third round of the competition, players win £25,000 if they lose, while taking home £35,000 if they lose in the fourth round. The first and second rounds come with prizes of £7,500 and £15,000 respectively.
What is the schedule of the World Darts Championship?
The third round begins on Friday, December 27, and the next round begins during the evening session on December 29. The dates for the next rounds are as follows:

January 2 – The semi-finals are taking place
