Police say the man has died after being stabbed wigorn on the eve of Christmas.
West Ambulance Service called armed police to the scene in Redditch at around 2pm after concerns were raised for the safety of a knife-wielding man.
West Mercia Police said efforts were made for several hours to deal with the matter, but the man, 39, escaped at around 7.40pm.
The chief constable assisting the force, Presta Wills, said: “We are not MINOR to cause offense and concern to this local community and we want to reassure residents that we are pursuing all appropriate measures, including immediate referral to an independent office. for* Police Action (IOPC), as a command and right.
“We will assist their investigation with all the information we have, including body camera footage.”
