While matchday punters will be paying huge sums of money to watch their heroes, it seems the moles have found a way to get into Old Trafford for free, leaving Christmas presents to find food for the health inspector.
Manchester United saw its food health rating plummet to two stars out of five in the most recent inspections after mouse droppings were found in and around the front, which sells food to fans and corporate at ground level.
But the food preparation area and the kitchen are clear manure in the view of the magnificent foothills of the earth, which feeds more than a quarter of a million people each season.
The club has a contract with the pest controller, and further solicited help to remove the visitors, who were more unwelcome than the Bournemouth fans after. a 3-0 home defeat on Sunday.
But rats are not the only problem with the earth, as was demonstrated in the post-match press conference held by manager Ruben Amorim, who was interrupted by water dripping from the ceiling.

“Multiple weekly checks are carried out in all catering areas and strict measures are taken to ensure that hygiene and cleanliness levels are high wherever food is stored, prepared and served. If incidents like this happen in the race, immediate and timely action is taken.”
A spokesman for Trafford council said: “Our environmental health officers have visited the food safety department in the following two routine visits. We are now working closely with Manchester United to comply with the audit and make the necessary improvements.”
