Commentator Steve Bunce believes the reason Tyson Fury ran out of the ring right after the results were announced in his loss to unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk last Saturday night was because Daniel Dubois entered the ring.
Shameful spectacle
Bunce feels that when Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) saw IBF heavyweight champion Dubois enter the ring to call out Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs), he wasn’t going to stand and watch. That would put Fury in an awkward position and make him look bad.
It is unclear who made the decision to allow Dubois into the ring. Whoever it was, they clearly didn’t think about what the proud former WBC champion Fury would look like.
The high-ranking person who made the call to let Dubois into the ring may have overlooked how to put it Napoleon’s fury in a humiliating position, ignored like driftwood. With that move, the emperor was reduced to a secondary figure.
That shouldn’t have happened because there were other ways to set up the Usyk vs. Dubois fight without Daniel entering the ring to call him out while Fury was still around.
The whole thing looked like an embarrassing circus. Dubois did not seem comfortable calling out Usik, and was told to do so. He seemed to know it was wrong and acted timid.
Disrespectful move by Dubois

I think they have a third fight,” said Bance about wanting to make the next trilogy between Fury and Usyk. “It’s still a big fight before AJ. Have a third fight (with Alexander). He won’t be knocked out. AJ fight is still here. “I think Fury is right when he says, ‘The AJ fight is going to be there no matter when it happens,'” Bunce said.
Fury-Usyk were not controversial fights unless you are a Fury fan. People didn’t see any of those games as controversial. The only questionable thing about the first was the referee giving Fury an eight count in the ninth round when he was badly hurt.
There is almost no chance of a trilogy match between Usyk and Fury happening because it is too risky for Tyson. He and his promoters won’t want to risk Usyk beating him a third time and ruining a lucrative matchup with Anthony Joshua. Also, Turki Alalshik said after the match that he wants the next fight between Joshua and Fury. He said nothing about setting up a trilogy.
