Devin Haney took to Instagram today, telling his followers that he was “working in silence” and “remembering the faces” of his “doubters.” This bittersweet message signals that Hanei was stewing at his loss Ryan Garcia and wants to show people how wrong they were about him.
The humiliating defeat must be hard for former two-division world champion Heaney (31-0, 15 KOs) to digest as he replays in his head the memory of the three times he was dropped by Kingry’s left hook on April 20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
It must be like an old, grainy movie in Devin’s head, and he probably wishes he had done things differently. Hani’s isolating behavior is a classic example of the shame response of someone who has failed. It might help Heaney to come back stronger, mended and ready to avenge his loss.

Blame Game
“Absolutely.” Whatever happened, he didn’t give up like Ryan gave up on Tank Davis. So he’s known as a quitter,” said Bill Haney for Danza Projectt, talking about Devin not giving up during the fight against Ryan Garcia. “Devin is a warrior.
“It was a combination of Devin not being Devin and him trying to be what the fans wanted to see,” Bill said of why Haney lost to Garcia. “Until then, they said he had no heart and wouldn’t stand in the middle of the ring.”
“He (Haney) was standing in the middle of the ring with someone we didn’t include in Ostarine. We didn’t expect him to be so strong. One thing about Ostarine is that it helps with recovery. It helps with strength and power. All that stuff,” Bill said of why Devin lost to Kingry.
The reason Devin lost the fight wasn’t because he was standing in the “middle of the ring” against Garcia. Where Hannay lost the fight was his habit of clinching non-stop, which put him in the firing line of Ryan’s short left hook.
That’s where Devin took the shots. He was reaching or retreating with his clinch, and that made it easy for Kingry to catch the short check left hook he likes to throw. If Dev’s coaching team knew what they were doing, they would have warned him not to hold back so much because that style is tailor-made for Garcia.
Henie may have been able to hold his own against George Cambosos Jr., Regis Prograis and Jorge Linares, but using the same strategy against Garcia was foolish. That’s why he lost. How does Bill not know that?
Wasted Time

What is concerning is how much time Hannay has been out of the ring since his loss to Ryan. All this energy put into the lawsuit may not pay off for Haney, who is wasting time on his career and may not be worth it in the end. It’s not clear if Bill is the one initiating the process, but it’s not good for Devin if he loses a year of his career waiting for the lawsuit to end.
