Ex Strictly Come Dancing professional Giovanni Pernice won the Italian version of the show Dancing with the starsand thanked his fans in the UK, months after he was axed from the BBC after one investigation into allegations of abuse.
The 34-year-old dancer and his partner, actor Bianca Guaccero (43), were crowned on Saturday, the same day, as the winners of the 19th season of the hit reality show. The British edition celebrated 20 years of broadcasting.
The duo, who also recently confirmed they are in a romantic relationship, celebrated their win on social media with a video
Pernice shared a video of himself and Guaccero shortly after they were announced as winners, with the caption reading “la coppia vince”, which translates in English as: “The couple wins”.
Guaccero, who fell in love with the former Strictly dancer on the set of the Italian television equivalent, shared her joy with fans and followers with several snaps and videos on Instagram.
“Grazie a voi, non ci posso credere,” she wrote, which roughly translates to “thanks everyone, I can’t believe it.”
Pernice’s win on the Italian dance show comes shortly after he left the UK following a BBC investigation into abuse allegations made against him by his former dance partner Amanda Abbington.
Sherlock The Abbington actress was the first of a number of people to allege “inappropriate” behavior on the show and claimed she was subject to a “toxic environment” while dancing alongside Pernice, who denied the claims.
He posted a video on Instagram on Saturday and said: “To all my dear friends in the UK who have supported us all the way.

A BBC investigation into Pernice’s behavior confirmed “some but not all” of the complaints against the professional dancer.
There were no findings related to physical aggression, but complaints of verbal bullying and harassment were accepted, the PA news agency learns.
After the BBC upheld some of her complaints, Abbington said she felt “vindicated” and had “no regrets” about making them despite receiving “hundreds” of death and rape threats.
In October, speaking on whether he would return to Strictly after being away this year, he told ITV’s Lorraine: “Who knows, never say never.
Earlier this month, comedian Chris McCausland became the first blind contestant to win Strictly, lifting the glittering trophy alongside his dance partner Dianne Buswell.
