A WMass woman felt sorry for a raccoon on a Springfield street; then she got a hospital bill for $56,130

GREENFIELD — Johanna Guiod loves animals. So when he saw a small raccoon lurking on a residential street in Springfield on the third day of spring, he stopped.

Another young woman was already there at Hermitage Drive and Parker Street, trying to coax the raccoon out of traffic; he had just called animal control. Guiod, who is 21, worked for weeks as a corrections officer at the Greenfield prison. That’s why he had special gloves on hand – a pair designed to protect against ‘sharp points’.
