An Auburn Mall spa owner was charged with allegedly forcing a woman to touch him, Auburn police announced Monday.
On Oct. 6, the Auburn Police Department received several 911 calls about a disturbance at the Health Spa, located at 385 Southbridge St., the police department said in a statement shared Monday on Facebook.
A 30-year-old woman was one of the callers. She spoke to police and said she was a customer at Health Spa, where she paid to receive a message, police said. Auburn police detectives determined that a massage therapist at the spa forced the woman to touch him, leading to the arrest of a 22-year-old Shrewsbury man.
Detectives then learned that the owner of the Health Spa tried to bribe the woman with a sum of money not to report what happened to the police, according to the release. This led to the arrest of Chengan Zhu, 52, of Shrewsbury, following an extensive investigation.
Zhu was arraigned in Worcester District Court on Dec. 11 and released on personal recognizance, police said.
