Theirs Eggnog bauble is a cinnamon bisque and eggnog ganache covered in 33% white chocolate. Is there a bit of hibiscus inside? It is as advertised. This was the sweetest of the three. Our favorite was probably the Alfa-Jaffa, 70% Peruvian organic dark chocolate with vanilla bean, orange ganache and gelato – very Christmassy and you can never get enough of the orange-flavored winter stuff. Monkey Puzzle is a 63% Arriba Ecuadorian chocolate with monkey puzzle seed biscuits and noble alfajor dulce de leche.
I hate to sound like a record, but these gifts make cute gifts if there aren’t too many of them (there are six alfajores in a box) and I also like to put them with cheese and crackers at the end of one. flour and paper explaining what each one is. You really are meant to eat alfajor in one go, but can support a piece (using a sharp knife).
While we’re on the orange and chocolate thing – and I rarely like to be off it – stock up on it AsdaExtra Special Orange Dark Chocolate£1.85/100g. At a solid 52% cocoa, it’s dark enough to make a difference while still being a crowd pleaser. If you are stuck on the table, crack the chocolate mousse. I make mine using just melted chocolate (100g) plus two eggs – melt the chocolate, let it cool, beat the egg yolks at room temperature; Separately, whisk the egg whites and fold in, spoon into the glasses, chill – but choose your favorite recipe.
