The Guardian and Observer journalists will be there to call on readers on Saturday to take our part annual charity appeal. The telethon raises money for three great charities that work to alleviate suffering in conflict.

Doctors Without Borders It is an international charity that provides emergency medical care in response to conflicts, natural disasters and epidemics. Its thousands of doctors, nurses, medical assistants and logistic staff have established and run hospitals and clinics around the world, including Gaza, Lebanon, Ukraine, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Haiti. Your donations will help fund the treatment of traumatic injuries such as burns, fractures and conflict wounds.
War Boy The only specialist is charity for the children affected by the conflict. Working in some of the most dangerous parts of the world, he delivers emergency aid, protection, education and more by working to ensure a safer, brighter future for children. Your donations will fund emergency aid, education and mental health specialist support to help children recover from the trauma of conflict.
Parallel histories Helping to teach school children about sensitive conflicts and controversies, from Northern Ireland to Israel-Palestine is a key aim of the history of the charity. Your donations will help to expand and increase its range of partners, objects and school materials.
There has already been an incredible response from Guardian and Observer readers to this year’s appeal, with more than £350,000 donated in the week since it was launched.
