The Warriors are looking to upgrade their roster and did just that on Saturday as they finalize a trade with the Nets. Golden State is acquiring Nets guard Dennis Schroder, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The Nets send Schroder and a second-round pick to the Warriors, while Brooklyn receives De’Anthony Melton and three second-round picks from Golden State.
Schroeder, the former Celtics guardhas had a stellar start to the season for the surprise Nets. He averages 18.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game as a leader. Brooklyn is in full rebuild mode and is currently 10-15 in the East, though that’s good enough for a playoff spot in the standings.

The Warriors got off to a strong 12-3 start to the season, though they have struggled of late as they are now 14-10 on the year. But they’ve tried to improve their roster, which is why they landed Schroder.
Schroder played 49 games (25 starts) with the Celtics during the 2021-22 season before being traded to the Rockets. He has bounced around throughout his career. But Schroder could always score when given the minutes and opportunities, and now, the Warriors will hope he can help them contend while Stephen Curry is still playing at a high level.
Meanwhile, the Nets will continue their rebuild. They have some intriguing pieces, but it’s no surprise they moved on from Schroder. The guard will be a free agent next summer, so getting some value while Schroder plays well gets them some assets.
