Dillian Whyte is one of the legions of people who want former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury to play dirty pool by breaking the rules by upsetting WBA, WBC and WBO champion Alexander Usyk in eight days’ time in a rematch at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.
Fans are calling out Fury for cheating on Usyk
People who want Fury to win heavily tip him to cheat against Usyk, which is concerning. If Tyson lacks the talent to beat Ushik, why would his fans and compatriots want him to break the rules?
What does that say about their moral code of ethical behavior? The basic problem is that Fury isn’t good enough to beat Usyk, and it will NOT help if he gets roughed up. Does Fury really want to be seen as Turki Alalshih who has to resort to crude tactics to defeat his former conqueror?
British journeyman White wants Fury to use the same tactics that worked for him in his victory over former cruiserweight champion Steve Cunningham on April 20, 2013. That was a long, long time ago when Fury was 24 and much thinner than he is today at 36, and looks closer to 50.
I get the impression that Fury is so desperate to win that he will be absolutely ruthless in the ring. Hopefully the referee is impartial and will do his job to punish and disqualify Fury if necessary if he goes to middle age, treating the fight as 5th century The Dark Ages the battle.
Usyk will not allow Fury to bully him
Physically, ‘Gypsy King’ is not the dashing, mobile, youthful fighter he was 11 years ago when he fought Cunningham and scored a 7th-round knockout by hold and jab. Usyk isn’t going to let Fury use the same approach against him, and there’s no way the referee is going to stand by and let that happen. There will be too much backlash.
“He has to be aggressive and try to make him angry. “When Steve Cunningham took him down, Fury got up and got physical, started shoving him and started manhandling him and started roughing him up,” White continued. “He (Fury) might lose a few points, but who cares? Just go there. She has to try to make him angry.”
