An attorney representing Jonathan Lind, who was convicted of perjury Thursday after a three-day trial, said in a statement after the verdict was handed down that Lind intends to appeal his conviction.
Lind had been charged with perjury on the grounds that he lied to a Worcester County grand jury investigating the death of Brandon Chicklis to protect himself and his girlfriend, Julia Enright, who was convicted of killing Chicklis. But Kevin Larson, who represents Lind, argued in court that prosecutors’ case hung a theory of “perjury by omission”, for which there is no statutory basis in Massachusetts.
