Baroness Sue Campbell will change the sport in January when she takes over as the new chairman England Netball.
Campbell has stepped down from her role as director of women’s football Football Association in October, after eight years with the organization, where she oversaw a successful domestic European Championship for Lionesses in 2022
However, Campbell will not be saying goodbye to the sport as a whole and instead will be making a comeback netball to succeed Bridget Blow.
Former British Sport chairman Campbell represented England under-21s in netball and will relish being involved again in a cause close to her heart.
“It’s a huge privilege to join England Netball at such an exciting time,” said Campbell.
“In many ways it feels like coming home having played, refereed and coached netball for over 25 years at school, college, club and national level.
“As long as I can still make a difference and have the ability to change lives through sport, then I want to be involved, and there is no better sport than netball to truly impact the lives of women and girls.
“And while all women’s sports continue their rise, netball retains a unique place in our sporting landscape.
“I look forward to working with the board, the team at England Netball and everyone in the wider netball family to build on the progress made so far and help the sport I love grow. This is definitely a very exciting next chapter.”
