A clash between top ten heavyweights Efe Ajagba and Martin Bakole is reportedly a done deal for the start of 2025.
Bakole-Age Set
Both are big players in their early 30s, but have been unable to capture the title until now. Boxing Scene is reporting that the Ajagba-Bakola fight is a done deal. Bakole, 6’6″, will likely be the heavy favorite against Ajagba, but that may not mean much. With Ajagba’s strength, he will have a shot.
#1 VBA, #3 WBC, #3 WBO, #4 Bakole (21-1, 16 KOs) will threaten her high ranking against 2016 Nigerian Olympian Ajagba (20-1, 14 KOs). With the World Boxing Association’s No. 1 ranking, Bakole doesn’t have to take that kind of risk to get a title shot. He can just sit back and eventually he will get a chance.
Bakole, 31, recently attracted a lot of attention with his fifth-round knockout victory over top American heavyweight prospect Jared Anderson on Aug. 3 at Riyadh’s season event at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. The win against ‘The Real Big Baby’ Anderson was very impressive for Bakole as he completely obliterated him.
Ajagba has won his last five fights since a 10-round unanimous decision loss to Cuban Frank Sanchez on Oct. 9, 2021. He has bounced back from losses to pick up recent victories over Guido Vianello, Joseph Goodall, Jean Kosobutsky and Stephen Shaw.
