After the match was out of reach, the Bruins and the Jets struggled three bouts of the third period.
With the Jets leading 6-1, Trent Frederic and David Gustafsson faced off near center ice.
Gustafsson had never had an NHL fight before Tuesday and this one didn’t last long. Frederic landed a straight right hand and the 24-year-old Swede hit the ice in a hurry.

The Jets didn’t like him Frederic, an experienced fighter, tangle with Gustafsson, setting the tone for the next few minutes.
Initially, it looked like Mark Kastelic was simply prying Logan Stanley away from Frederic-Gustafsson’s scrap and then he moved away. But something Stanley said or did caught Kastelic’s attention. She threw down her cane and gloves and went after him. Stanley landed a couple of shots early, and Kastelic came back throwing right hooks.
While Frederic and Gustafsson got fight majors, Kastelic and Stanley received misconduct for being the second fight in the same stop.
The bad blood didn’t end there. The two coaches yelled at each other from the benches and Jets captain Adam Lowry was yelling at the Boston bench.
As soon as the puck was dropped again, Lowry and Zadorov took off their gloves and square. But the heavyweight battle between the Bruins’ 6-foot-6 defenseman and the Jets’ 6-foot-5 captain was more varied than striking before Zadorov took down Lowry.
The Bruins finished with nine penalties over 37 minutes.
