A 44-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday morning, days later police say he crashed his vehicle into a Massachusetts State Police cruiser and fled the scene.
Keion Rowell, of Boston, was arrested in Randolph after a manhunt involving local, state and federal law enforcement, state police spokesman Tim McGuirk said in a statement. Rowell is charged with trafficking in cocaine, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license and leaving the scene of a crash and causing personal injury.
Police identified Rowell as a suspect after troopers found “trafficking-grade narcotics evidence” near the crash site.
Around 8 pm on Friday, State Police officers deployed to Star Chase Tracking Device in a vehicle that did not stop in Boston. The tracking device aims to help police chase down people who don’t stop to enforce the law.
Troopers eventually found the vehicle on Thwing Street in Boston, a cul-de-sac near the Jackson Square MBTA station in Jamaica Plain. As the first officer approached the vehicle, police say Rowell struck the cruiser multiple times with his vehicle and fled on foot.
The trooper was taken to a Boston hospital for evaluation.
