He also caused a fresh stir after suggesting in an interview with NBC that members of the Jan. 6 committee “should go to jail” for investigating an attempted riot in the U.S. Capitol by his supporters.

Trump disparages Trudeau as ‘governor’ and Canada as ‘country’

In a late night post on Truth Social, Donald Trump appears to disparage Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as a governor and the country as a country.

A week ago, the newly elected president joked that Canada could avoid the tariffs it plans to impose by becoming the 51st US state, the report said.

Trudeau said Monday that Americans are “starting to wake up to the reality that tariffs on everything from Canada would make life much more expensive.”

Speaking at an event organized by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, the prime minister also said dealing with Donald Trump would be “a bit more challenging” than last time.

Trudeau said that’s because Trump’s team is coming in with a much clearer set of ideas about what they want to do immediately than they did after his first election victory in 2016.

The Republican president-elect has threatened to impose a 25 percent tax on all products entering the US from Canada and Mexico unless they stop the flow of migrants and drugs.

Watch: Gabbard says she is in ‘full support’ and agrees ‘wholeheartedly’ with Trump on developments in Syria

Tulsi Gabbard, Donald Trump’s nominee for director of national intelligence, said she “fully supports” the president-elect’s stance on developments in Syria.

As a reminder, here’s what Trump had to say on Sunday morning’s Truth Social:

Assad is gone. He fled his country. His protector, Russia, Russia, Russia, led by Vladimir Putin, was no longer interested in protecting him. There was no reason for Russia to be there at all. They lost all interest in Syria because of Ukraine, where close to 600,000 Russian soldiers lay wounded or dead, in a war that should never have started and could go on forever. Russia and Iran are currently in a weakened state, one because of Ukraine and the poor economy, the other because of Israel and its combat success. Likewise, Zelensky and Ukraine would like to come to an agreement and stop the madness. They lost a ridiculous 400,000 soldiers and many more civilians. There should be an immediate ceasefire and negotiations should begin. Too many lives are needlessly wasted, too many families are destroyed, and if this continues, it can turn into something much bigger and much worse. I know Vladimir well. This is his time to act. China can help. The world is waiting!

The veteran and former Democrat has often been criticized for a 2017 visit to Syria where she met with now-deposed Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad. After the visit, Gabbard denied crimes committed by the Syrian regime and said Assad was “not an enemy of the United States.”

Late November Nikki Haley launched a sharp attack about Gabbard, who called her “a sympathizer of Russia, Iran, Syria, China.”
