The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch at 3:14 a.m. Tuesday in effect from 1 p.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. Thursday for Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden counties.
The weather service adds, “Flooding is possible due to excessive precipitation and snowmelt in northern New England.”
“Excessive runoff from heavy rain combined with snowmelt in northern New England will lead to the potential for some headwater flooding. Flooding may also occur in urban and poorly drained areas,” the service said meteorological “You should monitor further forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in flood-prone areas should be prepared to take action should flooding occur.”
