The MLB Draft lottery will take place on Tuesday at 5:30pm and will be broadcast on the MLB Network. The Red Sox and other teams will learn their position in the 2025 draft.
Boston finished the 2024 season with an 81-81 record, the 13th worst record in the majors. So the Red Sox’s best odds are to receive the 13th overall pick. For example, they finished the 2023 season with the 12th worst record and ended up receiving the 12th overall pick.

So that’s probably how tonight will play out, but don’t rule out a Cleveland miracle.
The Cleveland Guardians won last year’s lottery despite having a 2 percent chance and drafted Oregon State’s Travis Bazzana first.
The Red Sox only have a 1.2% chance at the first overall pick this year. But as last year proved, anything can happen.
The Rockies and Marlins share the highest odds to win the top pick. Both have a 22.5% chance.
The Angels have an 18% chance, followed by the Nationals at 10.2%, the Blue Jays at 7.5%, the Pirates at 5.3%, the Reds at 3.7%, the Rangers at 2.5%, the Giants with 1.9%, the Rays with 1.5%. %, the Red Sox at 1.2% and the Twins at 1.1%. All remaining eligible teams have less than a one percent chance.
The White Sox finished with MLB’s worst record in 2025, going 41-121. But they’re not eligible for the top pick as a revenue-paying club that received a lottery pick in 2024. They’ll be 10th.
