Boxing results: Richardson Hitchins beat Liam Parro


BF super lightweight champion Liam Paro (25-1, 15 KOs) lost a split decision to IBF North American, WBC Silver and WBO NABO champion Richardson Hitchins (20-0, 7 KOs) on Saturday night at Coliseo Roberto Clemente, San Juan, Puerto Rico.

In the first three rounds, Paro outscored Hitchins. A right-handed cross hit Hitchins in the fourth, taking him a few steps to the left. In the fifth round, Hitchins drew blood from Parr’s nose.

In the last minute of the seventh round, Hitchins landed a solid shot on Parr’s chin. In the eleventh round, Hitchins outplayed Paro. In the twelfth and final round, it was back and forth, with Hitchins holding a slight advantage.

Scores 117-111 for Paro, 116-112 and 116-112 for Hitchins.

WBO Latino Super Featherweight champion Henry ‘Moncho’ Lebron, 20-0 (10) defeated Christopher ‘Pitufo’ Diaz, 29-5 (19) in ten rounds for the vacant IBF Latin title.

Through the first eight rounds, LeBron had his way, for the most part, against the aggressive Diaz. In the ninth round, a clash of heads caused a cut on LeBron’s left eyebrow. In the tenth and final round, Diaz chased LeBron the entire round.

VBC Youth Silver and VBA number. American welterweight champion Jalil ‘Major’ Hackett, 9-1 (7) lost a split decision to Jose ‘Chito’ Roman, 14-1 (6) in ten rounds.

In the first six rounds, Hackett was mostly in the lead. In the eighth round, Hackett, having had trouble making weight, appears to slow down as Roman enters the round.

In the ninth round, Roman countered Hackett, who kept coming forward with swelling outside of Hackett’s right eye. In the tenth and final round, Roman, who had lost the first half of the fight, came back, taking the last three with swelling under his right eye at the end.

Judge Roberto Ramirez. Scores 96-94 for Roman, 96-94 Hackett and 96-94 for Roman. Rummy wouldn’t hurt.

Continental America lightweight champion Mark Castro, 13-1 (8) lost a split decision to Agustin ‘Sugar’ Quintana, 21-2-1 (13) in ten rounds.

It went back and forth in the first three rounds, with Castro holding the edge. In the fourth and fifth rounds, Quintana came back, taking both rounds.

In the sixth and seventh rounds, Castro outplayed Quintana for the most part. In the eighth and ninth rounds, Quintana came back and took the round.

In the tenth and final round, both men swung wildly, Castro having Quintana against the ropes for the most part.

Judge Ramon Pena. He scored twice 97-93 for Quintana and 96-94 for Castro.

VBA Continental Americas & WBC Silver Champion Yankiel ‘El Doctorcito’ Rivera, 7-0 (3), #112, Toa Alta, PR stopped NABF Fly Champion Angelo ‘Set if off’ Gonzalez, 14-1 (7), #110.8 , of Longwood, Fla., at 2:10 of the fourth round scheduled 10th round.

In the fourth round, Rivera dropped Gonzalez with a combination to the chin for the 8-count from referee Pabon. Seconds later he hurt Gonzalez with a right to the chin and another to the back and down, going for the 8 count. Referee Luis Pabon waved.

In the opening match, WBA Continental Americas Welterweight Champion Stefanie ‘The Medicine’ Piñero, 8-0 (2), #146.4, of Bayamón, PR, defeated Kalinda Faria, 2-3 (0), #139.8, of Sao Paula, BRZ , over 8×2 circle.

In the first three rounds, Piñero had the advantage. In the fourth round, Pinero hit Fari with a right to the chin halfway through.

In the final seconds of the seventh round, Faria ran from Piñero to reach the bell. Faria was broken in both eyes. In the eighth and final round, the taller southpaw Piñero continued to dominate Faria.

Super Lightweight William ‘Villito’ Ortiz, 7-0 (4), #140, Toa Alta, PR easily defeated Lionel ‘Taz’ Omar Colon, 6-1 (3), #139 ¼, of PR, Ocala, FL, over 6 rounds.

In the first round, both had their moments. In the second round, Ortiz rocked Colon with a lead left to the chin on several occasions. In the fourth round Ortiz continued to outwork Ortiz who didn’t seem to be doing much until the final seconds, possibly trying to steal the round.

In the fifth round with a minute remaining, Ortiz landed a left on the chin, knocking Colon back several steps. The colon ended up with a scratch around the left eye. In the sixth and final round, Ortiz continued to dominate Colon.

Judge Louis Pabon. D Diamante provided results in Spanish. All 60-54.

Bantam ‘Huancito’ Zaias, PR defeated Geraldo ‘Rigondiauk’ of Santo Domingo, DR in 8 rounds.

Zajas led in the first four rounds. In the sixth round, Zayas received a cut over his right eyelid. In the eighth round, Zaias was cautioned for holding throughout the round
