Prince of Wales was placed alongside a number of world leaders, including US President-elect Donald Trump, to mark the official the reopening of Notre Dame.
Saturday night’s event in Paris will mark Trump’s return to the world stage, with a celebration expected to be attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
William will replace his father, king, five years after the iconic cathedral was badly damaged by fire.
A palace spokesman said: “The Prince of Wales will travel to Paris tomorrow to attend the reopening ceremony of Notre-Dame Cathedral.
“His Royal Highness is traveling at the request of His Majesty’s Government on behalf of the United Kingdom.”
More than 1,500 guests will be present at Saturday’s service, which will be led by the Catholic Archbishop of Paris, Laurent Ulrich.
Ulrich will first reopen the great doors of Notre Dame – tapping on them with his cross, or bishop’s staff, which is made from a piece of the cathedral’s roof that collapsed in the inferno.

After the ceremonial opening of the doors, Ulrich will then reawaken Notre Dame’s grand organ, which has not been heard in public since the fire covered nearly 8,000 pipes with toxic dust released when the lead roof burned.
The prince will be accompanied by Trump, who is due to take office in January after winning the US election last month.
Trump was serving his first term when a fire ravaged the cathedral, commenting on social media at the time: “So horrible to watch the big fire in Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Perhaps flying water tankers could be used for extinguishment?”
The reopening of the Gothic cathedral, originally built in 1345, will last two days.
William is not expected to take part in Sunday’s events, which will include inauguration masses and special rites to consecrate the high altar.
Although William is stepping in as king, Charles said earlier this week that he was “delighted” to see the renovation completed.

Millions around the world watched in horror as the medieval cathedral caught fire in 2019, destroying most of its timbers, metal roof and spire.
Around 600 firefighters worked tirelessly for 15 hours to bring the blaze under control, although it is still unclear whether it was fueled.
Impressively, it was reconstructed in just five years at an investment of £580 million, and brought together 2,000 stonemasons, carpenters, roofers, foundry workers, art experts, sculptors and engineers.
A televised tour of the restored building was broadcast last week, with French President Macron telling viewers: “The shock of the reopening will be as great as the fire, but it will be a shock of hope.”
